Report: Advancing the Canadian critical minerals strategy

Accelerate, a national zero-emission vehicle alliance group, worked with MaRS to explore how Canada can advance the development of a robust critical minerals and metals supply chain needed for the transition to zero emission vehicles. This report details the key takeaways from their research.

Critical minerals play an increasingly important role in reducing emissions and tackling climate change. With rich reserves of many of the minerals required to manufacture essential technologies, such as zero-emission vehicle components and long-duration energy storage, Canada has a promising economic and industrial opportunity. Advancing the Canadian Critical Minerals Strategy report shares input from industry leaders on what is needed to support the goals of the federal government’s Critical Minerals Strategy.

These insights were developed by a Critical Minerals and Materials Task Force convened by Accelerate, a national zero-emission vehicle alliance group and MaRS Discovery District, in collaboration with the Mining Association of Canada, the Battery Metals Association of Canada, the Canadian Critical Minerals and Materials Alliance, and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
